Q&A: GT Force 2.0 Clipless Pedals?

Question by Kyle: GT Force 2.0 Clipless Pedals?
I just bought a brand new GT Force 2.0! It came with Shimano Clipless pedals. I am having problems getting them off. There is an allen wrench on the inside of the crank shaft an a 2 sided nut between the pedal and the crank shaft. I have tried muscle and power tools!!! nothing is working! Help me please!

They might be left handed threads meaning turn right to loosen..

  1. mtlbiker says:

The 2 sided nut requires a pedal wrench to get enough leverage to remove the pedals. The pedal on the left hand side of the bike has a left hand thread, so to remove both pedals, you have to turn them in the same direction. You can also use an allen key, but you need one with an extra long handle to get enough leverage. The pedals have to be fairly tight in order to stay in place. If the shop that installed them did not grease the threads, the pedals might be difficult to remove

The easiest was is to stand over the bike and place the wrench just above the crank arm for leverage and push down. Left pedal will have left hand threads.
