i have Wellgo SPD pedals. i dont want 2 take them apart 2 clean them cuz its a pain in the arse. ne other methods of cleaning them? how do i get 2 the bearings? im sure they need grease after using them over 5months without maintainence….

Get a bucket of water and automobile wash. Get an old paintbrush. soap up the pedals, brush vigorously rise and repeat. then air dry, lube them on the threads and the clips when you re-install them.

On the outside, just a brush and soapy water should get them nice and clean. The insides of most modern pedal systems are sealed. I don’t ever clean mine even after rain and I ride a lot.
In any case, they’re $40. ride ‘em ’til they’re dead and get new ones. It’ll take a long time to wear them out. Save yourself the hassle.
I use a good cleaner like simple green and spray the pedals vigorously with the stuff. I let it sit for about a minute or two and then I spray them hard with a hose. Anything that is left I take the simple green on a small brush and get it though it usually isnt much. Then let them dry and put a good chain lube on the pivoting parts and put a small amount of greese on the threads before reinstalling. If you lube the pedals and let them sit for a bit it will get into the bearings so you dont have to take the pedals apart.
A strong hose and a small brush should do the trick. If you want to get to the bearings you’re gonna have to take them apart. So you might as well clean them while you’re getting to the bearings. Looking at a picture of the pedal it looks like you take off the end cap and probably remove a screw and the pedal head should come off exposing the needle bearings. Good luck and have fun. If you don’t feel confident doing it get another set and then have it the old ones.
