i just got some cheap wellgo spd’s yesterday and im having trouble clipping in. it looks like the pedal jujst rests on the rubber of the sole. i really have to wiggle my foot around to get it clipped in.also i know that using clipless pedals ur supposed to get power transfer in the dead spot and im just not feeling a difference. am i supposed fell the difference or what. i spent 0 on the shoes and i dont fell like keeping them if its gonna be a pain to clip in or if it doesnt make me ride better
what should i do?

with anything new to you it takes time to get used to and the power transfer to each pedal stroke is an efficiency of 95% over a flat pedal at 45% or a cage @55% pedal efficiency. You need the cleat position in the center of the bottom of the shoe to start with and adjust it from there. The Crank Bros. pedal is much more efficient in clipping in and although it is a mtn bike pedal I use the candy Ti pedal and it rocks! You should give it a chance, you only got these yesterday, give it a chance!
Check your tension adjustment on the pedal and back it off all the way — for now. Check the position of the cleat on the shoe and make sure (most shoes you can’t but I haven’t seen anywhere near all the shoes out there) the cleat isn’t back or forward so far that the rubber of the sole is interfering with engagement.
Wellgo pedals have a surround of metal that acts like a platform. I prefer many other pedals over them. With adjustment, thought, you should be able to adjust them to suit you.
It may take a little while to get use to it. You have to play around with the position of the clip on the shoe so that it feels right. You can change the tension on the clip spring but be careful not to unscrew it completely.
